Popular heavyweight prospect Tony ‘TNT’ Grano ready to explode June 26
CES presents “Pride & Power” pro boxing card at Mohegan Sun
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Heavyweight prospect Tony “TNT” Grano has his timer set to explode Saturday night, June 26, when he headlines “Pride & Power,” presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc. (CES), in the 10-round main event at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.
The WBF All-Americas heavyweight champion, Grano (17-1-1, 13 KOs) – fighting out of Hartford – takes on Horace Ray “The Reeazon” Grant (15-2, 9 KOs) in the “Pride & Power” headliner.
“Grano is probably the most popular boxer in New England,” promoter Jimmy Burchfield said. “He has a growing legion of fans that support him whenever he fights. We’ve loaded this card with some of the best fighters in Connecticut like Mike Oliver, David Bauza and Chad Dawson’s older brother, Rick. Joe Smith, Jr. will be in action looking for his fifth first-round knockout in his fifth pro fight.”

NEW YORK (May 26, 2010) – “Tua De Force” has shifted sites and will now continue July 17 at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City as Samoan strongman David “Tuamanator” Tua, coming off a near shutout victory by unanimous 12-round decision this past March, faces former world title challenger Monte “Two Gunz” Barrett.
The Tua-Barrett fight had been tentatively scheduled for June 26 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Gotham Boxing will co-promote the July 17th event in Atlantic City with Joe DeGuardia’s Star Boxing.
“I was looking forward to Brazil because of the opportunity to expand David’s marketability in new areas, namely throughout Latin America,” Gotham Boxing President and Tua’s promoter Cedric Kushner explained. “However, the biggest and most important market, obviously, still is the United States and, therefore, fighting in New Jersey will give David’s career that extra bump. San Francisco, May 26, 2010 – Professional boxing returns to the city of San Francisco when Hard Knox Promotions and Mo’Betta Entertainment bring you “Civil War”, where boxers from the Bay Area challenge fighters from Southern California. The battle will take place at the historical Kezar Pavilion on June 12, 2010.
Headlining the eight round main event will be San Francisco’s undefeated welterweight sensation, Karim “Hard Hitta” Mayfield (12-0-1, 7 KO’s) as he clashes with Sergio De La Torre from Escondido, CA.
Mayfield, a three-time San Francisco Golden Gloves champion, is excited to be fighting in his hometown as he stated, “This is a dream come true for me to be fighting in San Francisco where I grew up. The City is known for having great fans. This will be the first professional boxing show at Kezar in a long time so I’m looking forward to putting on a great show for everone in attendence
In the co-main event, Oakland’s Tony Hirsch (11-3-1, 5 KO’s) squares off against Giovanni Rubio in an eight round Jr. Middleweight bout. Others slated to fight on the card are San Francisco natives, Richard Hargraves (light middleweight) and Cynthia Talmadge (bantamweight), both scheduled to fight in four round bouts.
Before the bright lights of Las Vegas, now known as the Mecca of boxing, San Francisco was the uncrowned boxing capitol of the world. Kezar Stadium was host to many great fights when Hall of Famer’s Rocky Marciano’s and Carl “Bobo” Olson both fought at this historic location. Marciano defended his World Heavyweight title fight against Don Cockell in 1955. Olson had two epic battles against Wayne Thornton in 1964. Kezar Pavilion will once again be host to another great night of boxing.

Essen/Germany (May 26, 2010) – Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 37 KOs), of Kiev, Ukraine and Hamburg, Germany and Albert Sosnowski (45-2-1, 27 KOs), of Warsaw, Poland and Brentwood, UK participated today in a public workout at the Mercedes Benz dealership in Essen. 2000 fans were present to see both fighters during their open training session. The eagerly anticipated heavyweight championship will take place on Saturday, May 29, at VELTINS-Arena Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
