UNBEATEN GARY RUSSELL JR. PUTS HIS “0” ON THE LINE AT “FIGHT NIGHT CLUB” ON OCTOBER 28

PLUS: THE FIRST 100 FANS WEARING HALLOWEEN COSTUMES WILL BE ADMITTED FOR FREE!

LOS ANGELES – There are only two “Fight Night Club” events left in 2010, so Golden Boy Promotions and AEG are pulling out all the stops to deliver the hardest-hitting shows of the season beginning with the Thursday, October 28 event at L.A. LIVE’s Club Nokia, which features boxing’s next big thing, unbeaten Gary Russell Jr. against Guadalupe De Leon in the six round featherweight main event.

Already 12-0 with 9 KO’s in a pro career that began in 2009, Capitol Heights, Maryland’s Gary Russell has traveled to the West Coast to become a local Southern California favorite after blistering knockout wins over Rodrigo Aranda and former World Champion Mauricio Pastrana this past summer at Club Nokia.  On September 25, the highly-regarded former amateur star needed only one round to take care of Willie Villanueva in Mississippi, and on October 28, he hopes to put a pre-Halloween scare into Guadalupe De Leon.

Mission, Texas’ Guadalupe “Lupillo” De Leon (8-11, 4 KOs) may be best remembered by “Fight Night Club” fans for his hard-fought February battle with Charles Huerta at Club Nokia in a bout that followed his four round win over then unbeaten Derrick Wilson.  Both fights show what the 31-year old is capable of when he’s on his game, and when October 28 rolls around, you can guarantee that De Leon is coming to LA with more than enough motivation to upset the undefeated Russell.

“Fight Night Club” is presented by Golden Boy Promotions and AEG and is sponsored by DeWalt Tools, McDonald’s, Budweiser, Powerade, LightsLeary.com and USTREAM.  The series will return to L.A. LIVE’s Club Nokia on November 18.  The fights will be broadcast on Fox Sports Net (FSN) and its regional sports network affiliates (check local listings) and streamed live online at www.ustream.com and www.RingTV.com at 8:00 p.m. PT/11:00 p.m. ET.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m. PT and the first bell rings at 7:00 p.m. PT.
