LOS ANGELES – Super Six World Boxing Classic Semifinalists Andre Ward and Arthur Abraham participated in a press conference on Tuesday at Sisley Italian Kitchen in Sherman Oaks, Calif., to formally announce their May 14 showdown at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., live on SHOWTIME®.
Ward will defend his WBA Super Middleweight title against the European superstar and former world champion to kick off the Semifinals of the groundbreaking tournament. Abraham, who is in the middle of training for the fight, was not able to attend the press conference from his home base in Berlin, Germany and joined via video conference.
The Ward-Abraham winner advances to the tournament Finals against the winner of the Carl Froch-Glen Johnson Semifinals showdown. The winner earns instant bragging rights as the world’s No. 1 168-pound fighter.
The talented Ward (23-0, 13 KOs), of Oakland, Calif., has emerged as the tournament favorite after impressive triumphs in Group Stage bouts over Mikkel Kessler and Allan Green, as well as Sakio Bika.

Segura-Calderon 2 Undercard Announced
HOBOKEN, N.J. – The pay-per-view undercard for Saturday night’s “La Revancha,” featuring the highly-anticipated rematch between WBO and The Ring light flyweight champion Giovani “El Guerrero Azteca” Segura and former 108-pound king, Ivan “Iron Boy” Calderon, has been officially announced.
“La Revancha: Segura-Calderon 2,” presented by Zanfer Promotions and PR Best Boxing, will be distributed live in the United States from Auditorio del Estado in Mexicali, Mexico by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 9 PM/ET – 6 PM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, DISH Network and Avail-TVN, for a suggested retail price of only $39.95.
The 12 round co-feature matches a pair of former world title challengers from Mexico, Jorge “Baby Face” Lacierva (38-7-6, 26 KOs) and Fernando “Wary” Beltran, Jr. (35-4-1, 19 KOs), in an IBF featherweight eliminator.
Veteran Ricardo “Piolo” Castillo (39-9-2, 26 KOs), a three-time world title challenger, battles Joksan “El Torito” Hernandez (21-3, 14 KOs), the former WBC Continental Americas super featherweight titlist, in a 12-round bout for the IBF Latino Featherweight Championship. Castillo is the younger brother of two-time world lightweight champion Jose Luis Castillo.

Guillermo Rigondeaux A champion in and out of the ring
CORK, Ireland – WBA Interim Super Bantamweight champion Guillermo ‘El Chacal’ Rigondeaux (8-0, 6 KOs), arguably the greatest amateur boxer of all time, retained his world title last Saturday night by beating previously undefeated hometown favorite and former European champion, Willie ‘Big Bang” Casey (11-1, 7 KOs), in impressive fashion at City West Convention Center in Dublin.
The Guillermo-Casey title fight featured a pair of undefeated boxers headlining a show promoted by Top Rank, Nowhere 2 Hyde Promotions and Dolphil Promotions. Nowhere 2 Hyde Promotions is owned and operated by Gary Hyde, who has managed Rigondeaux since he defected from Cuba in 2007.
‘Rigo’ entered the ring to roar of 4,200 fans loudly booing him, but the talented foreigner calmly pranced around the ring during the pre-fight announcements, and boldly made the executioner sign to the angry, partisan crowd.
