Valentine Pulls Out Of Ochieng Rematch – Randell Replaces On Oct 16th

Valentine Pulls Out Of Ochieng Rematch – Randell Replaces On Oct 16th

Curtis Valentine has pulled out of the planned rematch with sensational Light Middleweight prospect Erick ‘The Eagle’ Ochieng on Saturday’s  ‘True British Fighters’,  double title event, headlined by Sam Webb vs Martin Concepcion British Light Middleweight title fight, at The Troxy, London E1.

Valentine’s withdrawal has firmly shut the door on the mouthwatering prospect of an early repeat of their full scale war, back in may, in a bout billed as ‘The Battle Of The Undefeated’.  On that occasion the stylish Ochieng emerged victorious over the heavy hitting Valentine by a  tidy 39-37 points margin.

With Valentine out of the frame promoter Frank Maloney has drafted in Tony ‘TNT’ Randell, an experienced domestic championship campaigner, having previously held both the  British Masters Middleweight title and the BBBofC Midlands Area Middleweight title, which he lost to Matt Hainy on his third defense just ten days ago.

Noons (9-1) will challenge STRIKEFORCE Welterweight World Champion Nick Diaz (22-7, 1 NC) in the main event. Noons, of San Diego, Calif., has won his last six fights, including a thrilling slugfest against Diaz that ended when a cageside physician halted the proceedings due to excessive cuts around Diaz’ eyes. Diaz, of Stockton, Calif., has not lost a fight since he faced Noons, losing via disputed first-round TKO on Nov. 7, 2007.  He has won seven in a row.

Volatile, Erick Ochieng-Curtis Valentine, Rematch Set For October 16th

Promoter Frank Maloney obviously wants Guy Fawkes Night to come early this year. There couldn’t be any other explanation for him lighting the blue touch paper by announcing that an early rematch between the sensational Erick ‘The Eagle’ Ochieng and the big hitting Curtis Valentine will take place on his October 16th  ‘True British Fighters’ title double header event at The Troxy, London E1.

At their last meeting, at the Goresbrook Leisure Centre in Dagenham back in May, Ochieng and Valentine, both unbeaten at the time, put on a highly explosive display  where neither gave, or expected, any quarter for four hard fought rounds after which the super slick Ochieng was deservedly declared the victor by a  39-37 point margin.

AMIR KHAN VS. MARCOS MAIDANA LOS ANGELES PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

AMIR KHAN, Current WBA Super Lightweight World Champion

“We are two fighters that are exciting to watch.  Both young.  Both hungry.  It’s the perfect fight for both of us.

“I’m not scared of anyone.  I’ll fight anyone you put in front of me.

“When I beat Maidana, I want to let my fists do the talking, not my words.

“When people say I have a weak chin, I respond by saying that Pacquiao gave me his best shot and couldn’t wobble me.

“Maidana is a big name.  If I want to unify the division I have to fight the best.  I believe if you want to be known as a great fighter you have to clean up divisions and that’s what I’m going to do.
