Q: How has this camp been? Has it been better than the past three camps which involved traveling with trainer Freddie Roach (Philippines, Vancouver, Dallas, etc.)?
A: “This camp has been very smooth. We arrived in Los Angeles before the fight with Zab Judah was officially announced because we knew that the July 23 date was set in stone for my fight. When Timothy Bradley declined our last offer, we made a deal with Judah and we’ve been focusing on him since early June.”
“Obviously not traveling to the Philippines, Dallas or even Vancouver has made this an easier camp. There’s obviously less distractions this time. Although going to the Philippines to train with Manny was a terrific experience; any chance to train with one of the best fighters in the world is always an opportunity worth taking.”
Q: How is it working again with Alex Ariza? Can you describe his help in preparing you for the fight with Zab Judah?

CHICAGO – Junior middleweight prospect “Bazooka” Joe Linenfelser (9-1-1, 6 KOs), a 22-year-old boxer from Rockford, Illinois who lived a few years in Florida before returning home, has already been fighting professionally for nearly six years.
When he made his pro debut October 8, 2005, stopping 181-fight veteran Donnie Penelton in the opening round of their fight in Iowa, Joe was only 17 years old, the youngest pro boxer in the United States at that time, and a high school senior in Port Richey, Florida.
Most states require professional boxers to be 18. Iowa, however, licensed Linenfelser at 17 but only after he received special permission, which included a review of his grades and a letter from a teacher, an evaluation in terms of possessing exceptional boxing ability for his age, and undergoing an interview with Iowa Athletic Commissioner Dave Neil to convince authorities that Joe’s decision to turn pro was his own.

Rematch Sought In Wake Of Controversial Decision Handed Down In Atlantic City On Saturday Night
Los Angeles - Saturday night, Erislandy Lara, one of boxing’s rising stars, was dealt a decision loss against former World Champion Paul Williams at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey despite the fact that the vast majority of ringside media in attendance, fans watching the fight in person as well as those watching live on HBO, believed that Lara had won the fight in convincing fashion. When the decision was read (scores 114, 114, 115-114 and 116-114 in favor of Williams) a chorus of boos rained down on the ring and calls for a rematch were immediately heard.
“When you see a young undefeated star convincingly win almost every round against one of the best fighters in the world and then have the judges take the fight away from him, it’s very disturbing, not only as his promoter, but also as a boxing fan,” said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions. “The CompuBox statistics alone indicate who the winner of this fight was…Lara landed 42% of his total punches to Williams 19%. Further indication come when examining the power punch statistics as landed Lara landed half of his power shots to almost one of every five that Williams landed. We hope that Williams and his promoter Dan Goossen will give Lara a much-deserved rematch to settle the controversy that has erupted since Saturday night’s decision. Williams-Lara headlines the HBO telecast in a scheduled 12-round bout, which also features WBA #1-ranked Rico Ramos (19-0, 10 KOs) challenging World Champion, Akifumi Shimoda (23-2-1, 10 KOs) in a 12-round bout for the Tokyo native’s WBA Super Bantamweight Championship. Chris Arreola and Friday Ahunanya will also engage in a 10-Round Heavyweight bout and Jhonny Gonzalez will take on Tomas Villa in a 12-Round battle for the WBC Featherweight Championship.
