Roy Englebrecht Promotions Names New Matchmaker

Newport Beach, CA: Roy Englebrecht today announced that Whitfield Haydon will assume the position of Director of Fighter Relations & Matchmaker for Roy Englebrecht Promotions, replacing current REP matchmaker Arnold Berber. Berber will return to school as he looks to enter the medical research field.

“I am very grateful to Arnold for the four years he has been with me,” said Englebrecht. “He started as my DJ at the Battle In The Ballroom shows and for the last three years has done an outstanding job of not only matchmaking for my boxing shows, but also learned the mixed martial arts business to also have success there. But I know that Arnold’s passion is in medical research, so I am just thankful to have had him for this long.”

JOSESITO LOPEZ BELONGS!

Riverside, CA  – The question asked before his fight last Friday on ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights” was whether or not Riverside’s own Josesito Lopez (27-3, 15 KOs) belonged with the current crop of jr. welterweight world contenders?

Dan Goossen, co-promoter of Lopez, along with Thompson Boxing, said it best:  “Josesito stole the show Friday and earned his right to be considered with the other world contenders.  He belongs!”

The WBC #8 rated super lightweight (140 lbs), Lopez defeated his once beaten opponent Marvin Cordova, Jr. in a hard fought eight round unanimous decision.

“It was a tough fight and throughout each round I felt confident in my skills both offensively and defensively,” said Lopez.  “I believe if it was scheduled for 10, I would have stopped him.”
