GOLDEN BOY PROMOTIONS AND TEAM KHAN WITHDRAW IBF APPEAL
LOS ANGELES – Due to the fact that there was only to be partial representation of fight officials who were involved with the December 10, 2011 Amir Khan vs. Lamont Peterson bout at tomorrow’s scheduled appeal hearing of the fight’s outcome before the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Golden Boy Promotions and Team Khan have decided to withdraw their appeal and focus their full attention on Amir’s next fight.
Golden Boy Promotions and Team Khan are pleased to have been vindicated by the World Boxing Association’s (WBA) recent decision to mandate an immediate rematch and still hope that Mr. Peterson will honor earlier statements in which he asserted that he would be happy to agree to a rematch. In that vein, Golden Boy Promotions and Team Khan would agree to a 50/50 split of worldwide revenues derived from a rematch (including those derived from the United Kingdom) should Mr. Peterson agree to participate and hope that this will be both financially and professionally satisfying to Mr. Peterson and his team.

Amir Khan lifts his record to 26–1 (18 KOs)
In a dominating performance, Amir Khan improved his record to 26-1 with 18 KOs with a 5th round KO over former champion Zab Judah. From the onset of the bout Amir Khan controlled the pace and seemingly won every exchange the two fighters engaged in. Khan boxed beautifully in the middle of the ring and effectively used his reach to limit Judah to a defensive strategy. In the 5th round Khan landed a borderline uppercut shot to the belt-line of Judah. Judah went down in the heap thinking he had fooled the referee into penalizing Khan for a low blow. Instead the referee picked up the ten count as Judah tried to give his best performance of the night. Judah remained flopped on the canvas as the referee counted him out. True to form Judah claimed that he was unfairly hit low and should have been given time to recover. The truth is that Judah quit on the canvas after Khan relentlessly punished him for 5 rounds. Judah was clearly outclassed, was taking a beating, and ultimately found a way to quit.

QUOTES FROM AMIR KHAN VS. ZAB JUDAH FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE
AMIR KHAN, WBA Super Lightweight World Champion
“I don’t talk much. I let my fists do the talking in the ring and come Saturday I’ll be the new unified champion.”
“Were both powerful, both quick and exciting to watch. It’s going to be a great show.”
“It’s going to be an exciting fight, if you hit me once, I’ll hit you twice back because I’m a warrior.”
ZAB JUDAH, IBF Junior Welterweight World Champion & Former Five Time World Champion
“I’m ready and I’m excited. I’m very blessed to be back in this position. I know Amir Khan and Team Khan have prepared themselves for a war. I just think that over the years of me being in this position, I’m prepared for Saturday night. I’m prepared for what’s gonna happen. Amir Khan is new to this situation. He’s a young guy.”
“People have been getting this stuff about Zab Judah, 33 years old, is an old fighter, mixed up. What you gotta understand is that I turned professional at 18 years old. I was champion by 20 years old and I reigned ever since.”
“I’ve got my second wind. I’ve lived my years as Zab Judah just being Zab Judah, tough guy, Brooklyn, whatever. I’m here to say today, that don’t pay man, just live your life and be happy. Saturday night I’m gonna give you guys the best Zab Judah that you guys are looking for. He’s here!”
FREDDIE ROACH, Khans Trainer

LAS VEGAS – As the summer heat sizzles in the Las Vegas desert, a group of young rising stars will take to the boxing ring in hopes of one day headlining their own Vegas card. Peter Quillin, Gary Russell Jr., Bryant Jennings, James Kirkland, Ronny Rios, Josiah Judah and Jamie Kavanagh will square off in separate non-televised bouts on the July 23 Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah undercard at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nev.
In the main event, WBA Super Welterweight World Champion Amir “King” Khan and IBF Junior Welterweight World Champion Zab “Super” Judah meet in a 12 round World Championship Unification fight.
In a 10 round middleweight bout, fans in attendance will see a fighter on the verge of stardom when crafty, unbeaten top contender Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin (24-0, 18 KO’s) faces New Hampshire veteran Jason LeHoulier (21-5-1, 8 KO’s), a late replacement for Qullin’s original opponent, Tarvis Simms, who was forced to withdraw due to injury. Quillin is coming off of one of the most impressive performances of his career in the form of his April 29 demolition of Jesse Brinkley via third round knockout.
Undefeated 2008 U.S. Olympian Gary Russell Jr. (16-0, 10 KO’s) of Capitol Heights, Maryland has showed remarkable poise and ring knowledge at just 23 years old. The slick southpaw knocked out former World Champion Mauricio Pastrana in a single round and has defeated five foes since then, including the always tough Feider Viloria and the rugged Antonio Meza. On Saturday, Russell will square off in an eight round featherweight fight against fellow 23-year old Eric “El Loco” Estrada (9-1, 3 KO’s) from Chicago, a former amateur star who is now looking to strike gold in the professional game. Winner of nine of 10 bouts since his debut in 2007, the Windy City native is coming off of a six round victory over James Lester in March.
