Don King Hosts Final Press Conference in St. Louis For His World Championship Tripleheader
ST. LOUIS, Mo.–The final press conference was held on Wednesday at Scottrade Center in St. Louis promoting Don King’s world championship tripleheader, and a fourth championship match, on Saturday.
Hometown hero and unified World Boxing Council and International Boxing Federation 140-pound champion Devon Alexander “The Great” (20-0, 13 KOs) will be challenged by former World Boxing Association super lightweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-3-1, 13 KOs), from Lviv, Ukraine, and IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris “Thunder” Cloud (20-0, 18 KOs), from Tallahassee, Fla., will meet former IBF light heavyweight champion Glen “Road Warrior” Johnson (50-13-2, 34 KOs), a Jamaican now of Miami.
A domestically non-televised third world championship will be included on the card when IBF junior middleweight champion Cory “The Next Generation” Spinks (37-5, 11 KOs), from St. Louis, takes on IBF mandatory challenger Cornelius “K9” Bundrage (29-4, 17 KOs), from Detroit, Mich.

Gateway To Greatness: The Devon Alexander Story premieres Thursday on FOX Sports Midwest
World Champion Devon Alexander journeyed from the Hyde Park neighborhood of St. Louis, where he was one of 13 kids living under one roof, to a place as one of boxing’s brightest stars and an HBO headliner. FOX Sports Midwest tells Alexander’s story and chronicles his training for Saturday’s championship bout in Gateway To Greatness: The Devon Alexander Story.
This 30-minute, documentary-style special premieres Thursday, Aug. 5 at 7:30 p.m. CT and replays Friday, Aug. 6 at 5 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 7 at 3 p.m. on FOX Sports Midwest. St. Louis television personality Katie Felts hosts.

Don King Productions hosted a media workout Monday at Sweat Pound 4 Pound Gym in St. Louis promoting Saturday’s “Gateway to Greatness” card featuring four championship bouts–three of them world championships–at Scottrade Center.
Participants included WBA super lightweight champion Andriy Kotelnik, who will face undefeated WBC/IBF 140-pound champion Devon Alexander “The Great” in the main event; Undefeated IBF light heavyweight champion Tavoris “Thunder” Cloud, who will meet the former holder of his belt Glen Johnson in the co-feature; IBF junior middleweight champion Cory Spinks, who will take on Cornelius “K9″ Bundrage in a domestically non-televised world championship; and undefeated St. Louis cruiserweight Ryan “The Irish Outlaw” Coyne, who will face the similarly undefeated Warren “The Hit Man” Browning for the WBC USNBC cruiserweight championship in a domestically non-televised bout.

Undefeated WBC/IBF 140-pound world champion Devon Alexander “The Great” closed up training camp in Las Vegas on Sunday and flew to St. Louis to kick off Fight Week festivities where he was welcomed with a “Homecoming Celebration” at City Hall hosted by President of the St. Louis City Board of Aldermen Lewis Reed and Cedric The Entertainer.
Chuck Berry, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay, U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill (Missouri) were also in attendance along with hundreds of invited guests. Shown in the photos from the Rotunda of historic St. Louis City Hall are: Devon Alexander, his trainer Kevin Cunningham and Cedric The Entertainer.
Alexander will face former WBA super lightweight champion Andriy Kotelnik, from Lviv, Ukraine, on Saturday in the main event of Don King’s world championship tripleheader at Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

Andriy Kotelnik grew up poor in the large city of Lviv, Ukraine. Even though his family did not have great wealth, they instilled in their son a great love of family and community.
In their wildest imagination, the family could not have guessed that young Andriy would one day capture the hearts of a million people who make their homes in this working class Ukrainian railway city, let alone the entire nation. But that is exactly what happened after Andriy won a spot to represent Ukraine at the 2000 “millennium” Olympic games held in Sydney, Australia.
