PANAMA CITY, Panama  -Undefeated Puerto Rican boxer Thomas Dulorme improved his record to (13-0, 10 KO’s) with a dominating, nine-round unanimous decision last night against world title contender Charlie Jose Navarro (20-5, 15 KO’s), at Roberto Duran Arena in Panama. The judges scored the bout 89-81, 89-81 and 90-80, all in favor of Dulorme.

Dulorme was in control of the fight from start to finish. He showed his guts and courage against an opponent who did not yield to the attack. Dulorme won the fight by relying on his speed and combinations versus the Venezuelan.

“I feel really well and thrilled with the achievement,” Duloreme said. “Navarro is a great fighter and I feel like I beat the world champion because I saw his fight with Senchenko (reigning WBA champion) and that was close. This experience will help me improve a lot and achieve my goals in boxing,” said Dulorme, who is promoted by Universal Promotions, Gary Shaw Productions and DiBella Entertainment.

Dawson & DeMarco win world titles

Dawson defeats Hopkins, Tony DeMarco wins WBC lightweight title, dramatic 11th round TKO of Linares

LOS ANGELES  – Challenger “Bad” Chad” Dawson defeated defending WBC and Ring Magazine light heavyweight champion Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins in Saturday night’s main event on the “Believe It Or Not!: Hopkins vs. Dawson” card, presented by Golden Boy Promotions and Gary Shaw Productions, on HBO PPV at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The title fight ended in controversy because Hopkins (52-6-2, 32 KOs) was unable to continue due to a left shoulder injury suffered in the second round when he landed on the canvas. Referee Pat Russell ruled that there was no foul, awarding a TKO win to Dawson (31-1, 18 KOs), who captured the WBC and Ring Magazine championships.

Mexican lightweight Antonio “Tony” DeMarco(26-2-1, 12 KOs) became world champion for the second time in his pro career, defeating Jorge Linares (31-2) by 11thround technical knockout to capture the vacant WBC title. Trailing by scores of 99-91 and 98-92 (twice) going into the 11th round, DeMarco belted a bloodied Linares around the ring until referee Raul Caiz, Sr. halted the action at 2:23 for a dramatic comeback win by Demarco.

Unbeaten junior welterweight Danny “Swift” Garciawon a 12-round split decision versus former world champion Kendall “Rated R” Holt (27-5, 15 KOs) for the vacant NABO title in an eliminator for the WBC #1 and IBF #2 positions.

Hopkins-Dawson final presser quotes

“BELIEVE IT OR NOT: HOPKINS VS. DAWSON” FINAL PRESS CONFERENCE QUOTES

BERNARD HOPKINS, WBC & Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight World Champion

“I would like to say it is good to be back in Los Angeles.  I made history here years back with Howard Eastman in the middleweight division with my 20th title defense.  I am excited to be back making history.

“I didn’t know Dewey Bozella from a can of paint, but I heard his story and then I did my own research.  I saw this wasn’t a charity case.

“Dewey and I understand what that dark place means.  Whether you committed the crime or you have been accused of something you didn’t do.  The place is still going to be the same when you get there.

“That is where I go when I get ready for war.  You try to figure out what my secret is.  I systematically calculate and go back to a place that is very dark.  I go back to that place without putting myself in a position where I won’t lose my freedom.
