LAST VEGAS – If not for a hand injury suffered in the opening round of the 2004 Olympic Games in Greece, reigning WBA and IBA Light Heavyweight Champion Beibut Shumenov certainly would be much better known today by North American boxing fans, especially if he advanced to the medal rounds and fought eventual gold-medal winner Andre Ward.
Shumenov (9-1, 6 KOs), who represented his native Kazakhstan at the Olympics, won his opening bout against Poland’s Aleksy Kuziemsky (37-22), who is 19-1 as a pro, before being hampered by his damaged hand and consequently eliminated in the round of 16 by Turkey’s Ihsan Yildorim Tarham (27-19).

Unbeaten welterweight Hudaynazarov making name in U.S.
LAS VEGAS – U.S. boxing fans may not be able to properly pronounce his name, yet, but unbeaten welterweight Ravshan Hudaynazarov is starting to capture their attention with his throw-back style that features a brutal body attack.
The exciting Uzbekistan prospect, now fighting out of Las Vegas, will be back in action July 23 at Tachi Palace & Casino in Irvine, California on a show headlined by Hudaynazarov’s promoter, Las Vegas-based KZ Event Productions, owned and operated by the Shumeonv brothers, WBA and IBA light heavyweight champion Beibut (9-1, 6 KOs) and his brother, Chingis. The July 23rd show is presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions in association with KZ Event Productions.
Before Shumenov (9-1, 6 KOs) makes his first WBA title defense against undefeated, mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Uzelkov (22-0, 14 KOs) in the 12-round main event on the ESPN Friday Night Fights show, Hudaynazarov (12-0, 10 KOs) will take on former WBC Youth champion Pavel Miranda (16-5-1, 8 KOs) in an 8-round bout.

HEAVYWEIGHT SHOWDOWN: ARREOLA AND QUEZADA BATTLE FOR MEXICAN HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION ON AUGUST 13
AUGUST 13 AT CITIZENS BUSINESS BANK ARENA IN ONTARIO, CA AND TELEVISED ON ESPN2
Los Angeles, CA (July 13, 2010) – The similarities are many, almost eerily so. Both are heavyweights. Both are from California. Both are members of the Goossen Tutor boxing stable. Both have dreams of becoming the first world heavyweight champion of Mexican descent. Both are coming off bitterly disappointing defeats in fights they were both favored to win. Neither can afford another loss. And now both will fight each other.
On Friday night, August 13, both big men will come together at the end of a collision course when Riverside’s Cristobal “The Nightmare” Arreola (28-2, 25 KOs) and Bakersfield’s Manuel “El Toro” Quezada (29-5, 18 KOs) meet inside the ropes at the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA in the scheduled 12-round ESPN2 “Friday Night Fights” main event for the Mexican National Championship presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions. The winner will redeem himself from his recent setback and re-emerge as a true world title contender; the loser will likely see his world championship aspirations – and opportunity to make heavyweight history – come to an end.
