Why is Mayweather Ducking Pacquiao?

Floyd Mayweather Jr., the #2 pound 4 pound fighter in the world is known for many things. Dazzling hand speed & reflexes, a flashy lifestyle, and an undefeated record. But Floyd has become known for something else lately. Ducking the Pac Attack!
Its understanding, since Manny Pacquiao is no bum, in the sport of boxing. He has won seven World titles in seven different weight classes. Pacquiao has held the #1 spot in in the P4P rankings, since Floyd’s departure in 08′. The typical casual fan would look at Mayweather’s undefeated record and say “he’s the best”. But speaking for the hardcore boxing fans around the world, an undefeated record means nothing if you haven’t fought the best.
“Money” Mayweather fans would then bring up names such as Diego Corrales, Ricky Hatton, and Arturo Gatti as worthy opponents. Then I would respond “WRONG”! Worthy opponents? No. Worthy names? Yes. All of these men were at the tail end of there career’s or already burnt out(exception for Hatton). Floyd’s precious record is too delicate for him to risk it on top fighters in there prime. So he fights opponents who made a name for themselves earlier in their career‘s, but can no longer live up to them.
Mayweather is simply scared of Pacquiao. He fears Manny’s KO power, and remarkable speed will add an unforgettable loss to his record. Thus, making accusations that Pacquiao is on the ‘roids. Note to Mayweather, just because Pacquiao can whip someone’s butt better than you doesn’t mean he’s on steroids. Look at it this way Pacquiao has nothing to lose from this fight, Mayweather does. If Floyd loses, he loses his pride. If Mayweather doesn’t take the fight his legacy will be forever tarnished, same as if he loses. So if this fight ever happens Mayweather better battle for a W. Random thought: Why does Mayweather in interviews, and on shows, keep repeating “belts/legacy don’t pay the bills”? Floyd you’re a multi-millionaire for crying out loud, the bills are paid! Anyways, fight fans cross your fingers, and hope for a miracle. Fight fans of this generation, pray this fight happens so you can tell your kids about this one day. The Super Crown Don is out!

Judge Daniel Weinstein today issued an order to correct the false record that has been created by the recent statements from Top Rank and Manny Pacquiao’s representatives concerning what occurred at the mediation. The full text of the Judge’s statement is as follows:
Mediator’s Corrective Order Re: Mayweather-Pacquiao Mediation
The Mediator finds:
1. Various articles have appeared in the press purporting to characterize the substance and outcome of the Mayweather-Pacquiao mediation and the negotiations between the parties. Many of the reports are incorrect.
2. The mediation was a confidential proceeding. Any comments to the press or public by participants in the mediation purporting to report the substance or details of the mediation are violations of the strict confidentiality to which the parties and their representatives agreed and which they authorized the Mediator to enforce.
3. The parties and their representatives authorized that, if misinformation was disclosed to the press by either side, the Mediator would correct any erroneous information.
The Mediator corrects the erroneous reports to the press as follows:
a. Both parties participated in the mediation in good faith. Both parties participated in many hours of negotiation, with a number of proposals issued by each side and carefully considered by the parties and their representatives.
b. The Mediator himself did not formulate, recommend or issue a Mediator’s Proposal. The Mediator did not make an evaluation or finding that any one of the many proposals considered by the parties was the correct protocol.
c. Any attempt to characterize the mediation process as an acceptance or rejection by any of the parties of a mediator’s or an arbiter’s proposal or of any specific proposal is false.
d. In the end, the parties could not agree on a testing protocol acceptable to all.
LOS ANGELES (December 28, 2009) . . . After a Christmas weekend filled with comments and reports related to the potential mega-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, Mayweather Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions are issuing the following statement in order to set the record straight.
Let the record be clear: Manny Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum are threatening to walk away from the largest fight in history.
The fact is that random blood and urine testing was one of the many deal points and was listed along with the others, such as the financial split, the weight, financial penalty for being overweight, the appointment of the foreign sales agent, the production of the marketing assets, the gloves and many more. Team Mayweather made major concessions in many of these areas and we were optimistic that Team Pacquiao would do the same as it related to the request for random blood and urine testing, which Floyd Mayweather agreed to immediately.
It is disappointing for us to see that the benefits of blood testing and the fact that many different substances and procedures can only be detected by blood testing, are still not fully understood by all.
Their “take it or leave it” approach where blood testing would stop 30 days prior to the fight unless the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) approved differently is another indication that they may not want this fight. Pacquiao’s position (and as stated on his website) is. “The truth is taking blood out of my body does not seem natural to me and mentally I feel it will weaken me if blood is taken from me just days before the fight” or he is “afraid of needles” and does not feel comfortable with blood being taken closer than 30 days before the fight is another interesting point. The fact is that he did have blood taken just 14 days prior to his fight with Ricky Hatton, an event which was documented on HBO’s 24/7 reality show.
Also when told that Pacquiao feels that the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) is an agent of Golden Boy Promotions-which is in and of itself a ridiculous accusation-we moved swiftly and made yet another concession by stating that we would be perfectly fine to retain another agency which would do the random urine and blood tests and jointly agree on a reasonable cutoff prior to the fight but which would still maintain the integrity of the results. Let it be clear that this procedure was declined by Pacquiao as was the proposal to bring in an independent mediator such as Sen. John McCain, a suggestion that was in fact embraced by Bob Arum, but also declined by Manny Pacquiao.
Let it be very clear that nobody from Team Mayweather or Golden Boy Promotions is accusing Pacquiao of anything. But the reality seems to be that for whatever reason Pacquiao does not want to participate in random blood testing, which has already been deemed a harmless procedure that many current athletes are subjected to prior to and during competition.
Team Mayweather and Golden Boy Promotions is still open to the earlier discussions of having both parties work out a mutually agreeable understanding of the testing, which would be conducted by a mutually agreed upon agency.
In closing Floyd Mayweather is one of the most decorated athletes boxing has ever seen and he is anxious to make this fight happen for all of the fans and sports enthusiasts that are asking for this fight to happen too. As you might have noticed Floyd has been silently watching and patiently waiting for the final details of the fight to get worked out. As Floyd has already stated he does not have a problem with the random procedure and will be under the same requirements as Pacquiao, it is simply hard for him to understand why there is reluctance on Pacquiao’s part to agree to do the same.
