Welshman Jack ‘The Hammer’ Marshman will lock horns with Ali Arish to headline CWFC76 in Newport, South Wales next month.

The pair is set to contest a Middleweight bout when Cage Warriors Fighting Championship returns to the Newport Centre on Saturday June 4th, the promotion’s second event of the year.  CWFC76 will be broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass in Europe and on other TV channels to be announced shortly.

Matching Marshman for this show had proved difficult with several fights falling through but Iranian born Mancunian Ali Arish jumped at the chance of fighting in front of a global TV audience.

Marshman (18-5 | 2-1 CWFC) will be the home crowd favourite, haling from Abertillery and training under Richard Shore at Tillery Combat.  The 26 year old is on a four-fight win streak that includes two CWFC wins in 2014 against highly ranked Bola Omoyele at CWFC 69 and former UFC vet Che Mills at CWFC 72 (which took place at the Newport Centre).  Since then Marshman has added two more wins to his record on the regional circuit defeating Kyle Redfearn by decision in Newcastle last September and Sean Lomas by rear-naked choke at Pain Pit in March.  The top 10-ranked domestic middleweight will be looking to show why he is one of the UK’s most dangerous middleweights, boasting 15 wins inside the distance with 11 TKOs.

“I’m very excited to be fighting on this show against a very good opponent with a great record.  I’m looking forward to showing everyone how much I have improved since the last time Cage Warriors came to Wales,” said Marshman.

Arish (21-4 MMA | 1-1 CWFC) made his pro MMA debut in 2009 and is known primarily for his wrestling and top control which he uses to overwhelm his opponents.  Eleven of his wins came before the final bell (5 TKO’s and 6 submissions) with 9 victories claimed within the first round.  Arish boasts notable wins over Wayne Murrie (KO) as well as decision wins over Matt Inman and Arni Isaksson.  His most recent outing was a decision win against the Brazilian Julio Cesar Alves in Manchester last June.

Arish comments, “I am so happy I’m fighting on Cage Warriors, it’s one of the best shows in the world. I’m going to fight Jack Marshman from Wales and he is one of the top ten-ranked fighters in the UK and I’m so glad I’m going to fight against this gentleman.  I’m looking forward to it and I can say it will be a great night for both of us.”

Cage Warriors matchmaker Ian Dean said, “After several other fights fell through it’s great to get Jack Marshman a credible and tough opponent upon his return to Cage Warriors. Ali Arish has been in there against some top domestic names and doesn’t turn-up to lose.  I give credit to both fighters for accepting what is a tough, stylistic match-up for them.  That being said this is the classic striker/grappler clash and it’s going to be interesting to see how Marshman copes with Arish’s wrestling based offence as he looks for the KO himself.”

Tickets for this event are still available and start from just £30. (plus booking fee)  Tickets can be purchased here.
