Alexis Nicolas Dethrones Two-Sport King Regian Eersel To Capture ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship

Bangkok, Thailand: ONE Championship™ (ONE), the world’s largest martial arts organization, returned to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium with ONE Fight Night 21: Eersel vs. Nicolas. The ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Title was on the line in an explosive showdown between elite strikers.

In the main event, undefeated Alexis “Barboza” Nicolas shocked the world by beating two-sport king Regian “The Immortal” Eersel to capture the ONE Lightweight Kickboxing World Championship.

The fight kicked off with both men comfortably trading combinations at the center of the ring. However, the tone drastically changed in the second stanza when Nicolas dropped Eersel with an overhand right. “The Immortal” survived, and he fought back valiantly in the succeeding rounds.

Acton intensified as Eersel picked up the pace in the third frame, pressing forward aggressively. “Barboza” met the Surinamese fighter’s pace, firing off lightning-quick punches from range.

As the bout reached its climax in the fifth and final round, the two competitors engaged in a fierce exchange of blows. But Nicolas’ clean and effective striking down the stretch ultimately secured him a unanimous decision victory on the scorecards, ending Eersel’s impressive 22-fight winning streak.

In the co-main event, ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion Tye Ruotolo overcame a challenging start against Izaak Michell to successfully defend his gold.

Michell proved to be a worthy opponent for the 21-year-old American phenom, showcasing his powerful wrestling by taking the defending champion to the ground. But the crafty Ruotolo would utilize superior technique to execute a sweep and take the mount position. From there, the Atos Jiu-Jitsu product swiftly transitioned to Michell’s back and locked in a modified rear-naked choke to force the tap.
