New York State Champion Darrel Madison Looking to Move Up in Division

DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla.—Boxing promoter Don King—a man known for his affinity to the heavyweight division—has signed New York State Champion Darrel “King David” Madison (15-1, 4 KOs) to a promotional agreement with Don King Productions.

Madison, born on New York’s Long Island and still fighting out of Central Islip, is currently riding a 14-fight winning streak with wins over Zuri Lawrence and Nagy Aguilera.

“I couldn’t be happier,” Madison said.  “Don gave me everything I wanted and asked for.  It was time for me to have a big-time promoter to move to the next level in the heavyweight division.”

The slick boxer’s next step will be heading to King’s training camp in Orwell, Ohio, with trainer Carlos Cartagena to spar and train with other DKP fighters.  Madison is anxious and excited to get back into the ring as soon as possible.

“Madison tells me he wants the chance to move up and face the best in the heavyweight division,” King said.  “My plan is to give him an opportunity in the land of opportunity.”

Madison is managed by Dave Bowers and is currently ranked No. 7 overall, and is the No. 1 American, on the Top 100 Heavyweight Prospects blog.
