SUGAR SHANE MOSLEY AND SERGIO MORA LOVE LOS ANGELES
Hometown Fighters Look Forward to Fighting at STAPLES Center
Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles is home to many of the biggest stars in the world. Celebrities, musicians and athletes are born and bred in the City of Angels and this Saturday night, two of the city’s proudest sons will meet in the ring in their own backyard – STAPLES Center. Sugar Shane Mosley and Sergio “The Latin Snake” Mora, who were both born and raised in the Los Angeles area, have much to say about their hometown and what it will mean to fight here on Saturday.
Below, please find what Mosley and Mora have to say about why they love L.A.
Favorite Thing About L.A.
Mosley:
“I like being able to go to the mountains, to the forest or to the beach. I can do everything I possibly want to do in the L.A. area. I can go from snow topped mountains to the hot beaches and the city itself has everything you could ever want. Most cities don’t have the beach or the mountains and all of that is available here.”
Mora:
“I love being around the same gyms and the same people who motivated me from the beginning. My first gym was in my cousin’s backyard and I wouldn’t want to leave the city that has given me so much.”
Favorite L.A.s Memory
Mosley:
“I will never forget watching the Olympics in 1984 here in Los Angeles. Seeing those athletes win Gold Medals including people from the L.A. area. It was great inspiration for me to become successful in my future career.”
Mora:
“I was the Grand Marshall of the Montebello parade in 2005. It meant a lot that I was recognized in that way by my neighborhood.”
Favorite L.A. Hang-Out
Mosley:
“I really love Hollywood Blvd and Sunset. There is so much to do and I like to go there and just hang out. I also love going up to Big Bear for peace and quite, but when I come down the mountain, I go straight to the madness of Hollywood.”
Mora:
“I like to go anywhere there is a palm tree and a cool drink. I also really love the beach and the closest beach to my house is Hermosa Beach, so I hang out there quite a bit.”
Significance of Fighting in L.A. at STAPLES Center:
Mosley:
“It is definitely great to fight in L.A. I always fight good fights at STAPLES Center. They have always been sell-out crowds and I think it is going to be the same way Saturday night. I look forward to a lot of people being there to enjoy Mexican Independence Day boxing.”
Mora:
“It means the world to me to fight at STAPLES Center. Everyone that knows me and everyone that doesn’t can come and support me and it will be a pleasure to entertain them.”
Favorite L.A. Fighter:
Mosley:
“Oscar de la Hoya is my favorite. My fight against him is the one I watch them most. He is my partner at Golden Boy and I have a great amount of respect for him.”
Mora:
“Oscar de la Hoya represents everything I want to accomplish – championships, status and the ability to give back to the community.”
