Manfredo to headline “Homecoming King” Nov. 12 @ Twin River, RI

PROVIDENCE  – IBO Middleweight Champion “The Pride of Providence” Peter Manfredo Jr. returns to his roots November 12, headlining “Homecoming King” in a 10-round, non-title fight at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island.

“Homecoming King” is presented by Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment and Sports, Inc (CES), in association with Twin River and DiBella Entertainment.

Manfredo (35-6, 19 KOs), who will fight Colombian champion Jhon Berrio (15-7, 11 KOs), hasn’t fought in his native Rhode Island in two years. The star of The Contender, Season I reality television series has a 16-1 (10 KOs) pro record in Rhode Island, including 3-0 (3 KOs) at Twin River.

“It’s always a major event when Peter fights at home,” CES president Jimmy Burchfield said. “Peter started and developed his career with CES and we’re thrilled to have him headlining our November 12th card. He remains one of the most popular fighters in the world from his days with The Contender. As a reigning world champion, I expect his fans to turn out in force like they always have in the past. We also have some of the best New England prospects in action on the same show, including an all-Rhode Island showdown of local rivals in the co-feature.”

In the 6-round co-feature, West Warwick’s (RI) Keith Kozlin (6-1-1, 1 KO) takes on Woonsocket’s (RI) Joe Gardner (6-1, 4 KOs) for the vacant EBA New England Light Heavyweight Championship.

Popular Randolph (MA) heavyweight Billy “The Kid” Mofford (9-1, 4 KOs), who has been inactive for the past 6 ½ years, starts his comeback against TBA in a 6-round bout.

Scheduled to fight on the undercard in 4-round bouts are Providence cruiserweight Dante Wiggins in his pro debut against Ahmad Mickens (1-0-1), Marshfield (MA) junior middleweight Aleksandra Magdziak Lopes (3-1, 1 KO) facing Lisa Bolin (2-3), undefeated Providence firefighter Eric “Star” Estrada (2-0, 2 KOs) going for his third straight win against upset-minded Tobias Rice (2-1, 2 KOs), Hyannis (MA) heavyweight Jesse “Bad News” Barboza (4-1, 3 KOs) attempting to avenge his only loss versus Winston Thorpe (3-0, 2 KOs), New Bedford super lightweight Jonathan Vasquez (2-0, 2 KOs) tangling with Ernest Butts III (0-1); and Pawtucket (RI) middleweight Thomas Falowo makes his pro debut against an opponent to be determined.
