New York, NY - It is hard to believe what WBC and Ring Magazine Light Heavyweight World Champion Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins has achieved during his 23-year long professional career. He was the middleweight champion for ten years, notched a record 20 successful title defenses of that crown and at 46-years-old, has become the oldest fighter in boxing history to win a world title. It’s also hard to believe that a young lion like former World Champion “Bad” Chad Dawson, who has wanted a shot at Hopkins for years, will finally get his opportunity to stop Hopkins from continuing his record-breaking journey. ”Believe It Or Not: Hopkins vs. Dawson” takes place on Saturday, October 15 at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, Calif. and will be produced and distributed live by HBO Pay-Per-View® beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET/ 6:00 p.m. PT.
In addition to this championship main event showdown, the televised pay-per-view undercard will also feature Antonio DeMarco vs. Jorge Linares in a 12-round fight for the vacant WBC Lightweight World Title and Kendall Holt vs. Danny Garcia in 12-round bout for the vacant NABO Junior Welterweight Title which will also be an eliminator for the number one rating by the WBC and the number two rating by the IBF.

LOS ANGELES - A host of exciting young boxers will be in the ring at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Friday, August 12 hoping to impress some of the sport’s most knowledgeable fans on the Antonio Diaz vs. Ernesto Zepeda undercard in Indio, Calif.
In the all-California co-main event, which will be televised on TeleFutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate,” Blythe knockout artist Andrew Cancio will look to keep his finishing streak going against San Fernando’s Lowell Brownfield. Also in action will unbeatens Humberto Zatarain and Rocco Espinoza in a four round featherweight bout as well as Coachella’s own Angel Osuna and Jose Antonio Vargas in separate fights.
On August 12, the main event at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino will see the 17th appearance for longtime contender Antonio “Tono” Diaz as he returns to his favorite venue for the first time in nearly a decade to battle fellow veteran Ernesto Zepeda.

ans in attendance will see the return of heavyweight 6’7″ Lionel Davis now 9-0 step into the ring to face what could be his toughest opponent thus far in his career in 5-7-2 Andrae Carthron. Carthron has stood and exchanged with the likes of Ashanti Jordan, Seth Mitchell and Tyler Hinkey. Carthron is ready for this challenge; Davis is awaiting the Aug 18th date with great anticipation.
Boxing fans will be treated to not one but two heavyweight bouts when undefeated 5-0 Alexander Flores goes up against 6-1 Serhiy Karpenko. Flores is looking to maintain his perfect record but Karpenko wants to put an end to Flores’ winning streak. Karpenko coming off his recent win against 6-3-3 Massataka Takehara, Karpenko is prepared for a confident and undefeated Flores.
On the undercard 1-0 Eric Mendez out of Hawaiian Gardens is looking for his second KO win as he faces Alex Vlas who will be making his pro debut at Fight Club OC. Ronnie Shields new chief second for top super middleweight prospect Edwin ‘La Bomba’ Rodriguez
WORCESTER, Mass. – Undefeated Edwin“La Bomba” Rodriguez, arguably the premier super middleweight prospect in the world, has switched head trainers and now two-time world title challenger Ronnie Shields is his chief second.
Rodriguez, a 26-year-old native of the Dominican Republic, returns on August 20 to fight at home in Worcester (MA) for the third time in as many years, headlining a special edition of Broadway Boxing, presented by DiBella Entertainment, at historic Mechanics Hall against intra-state rival and Iraq War veteran Chris Traietti (10-2, 6 KOs).
Rodriguez’manager, Larry Army, explained the head trainer change: “After Edwin’s third pro fight we switched trainers and went with Peter Manfredo, Sr., but after the McGirt and Pryor fights, Edwin and I talked about things that hadn’t been fixed– balance, wide punching and fighting out of control. So, we decided to make a change and sent Edwin to Houston to start working with Ronnie Shields. We knew that Edwin was more of a boxer as an amateur, but he had become a puncher as a young pro, and we felt he was losing his boxing skills.

New York, N.Y. - The Downtown Independent and QUAD Cinema is pleased to present the Los Angeles and New York premiere of the powerful new documentary BORN AND BRED (94 minutes), directed by Justin Frimmer.
Set in the east side of Los Angeles, America’s new amateur boxing capital, BORN AND BRED tracks three teenage fighters as they train for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team and for careers in the professional ring.
For ten years, 15 year-old twin brothers Oscar and Javier Molina have followed in the footsteps of their father, a boxer from the gang-war torn district of Ciudad Juarez, Mexico. Their older brother boxed. Their cousins boxed. It’s a family tradition.
Their trainer, Robert Luna, a former Army Ranger who failed in his own boxing career is intensely ambitious for his young prospects. Not only does he believe that the twin brothers have immense natural talent, he believes his years in the sport were a prelude to his own career as one of the great trainers in boxing. Luna knew the Molina brothers were a unique pair the moment they walked into his Commerce Boxing Gym a decade ago. “They were tough, humble, nice kids. But when I started working with them, you could tell right away they had something special.”
