LOCKED N’ LOADED RETURNS ON SEPTEMBER 23 RISING PROSPECT TO ELEVATE SO-CAL’S LATE SUMMER HEAT WAVE!
Riverside’s Junior Welterweight, Jose “El Niño” Reynoso, returns to his favorite stomping grounds at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario to accept the challenge of Adan Hernandez, of El Pasp, Texas, on Friday, September 23 as once again the Thompson Boxing Promotions ‘Locked N’ Loaded’ fight card returns to the popular fight venue.
Reynoso (14-3-1, 2 KOs) brings his southpaw wizardry once again to California’s Inland Empire as he looks to stretch his unbeaten streak to seven. It’s been more than two years since anyone been able to claim a victory over Reynoso. Since that time he’s proven to be a puzzling opponent for everyone who has faced him including Aris Ambriz, Hector Serrano and Santos Pakau. A berth in the junior welterweight contender’s list awaits him.
Hernandez (14-7, 5 KOs) who hails from El Paso, Texas, has competed against the top prospects in the country including Danny Garcia, Rock Allen, Anthony Peterson and Urbano Antillon. None were able to knock out the Texas hard-hitting prizefighter. He aims for a victory over the meteoric rising Reynoso that could revamp his career.

JHONNY GONZALEZ DEFENDS TITLE AGAINST ROGERS MTAGWA

UNDEFEATED OLYMPIANS SHAWN ESTRADA AND JAVIER MOLINA ALSO SET TO APPEAR ON ESPN DEPORTES FIGHT CARD FROM EL PASO, TEXAS ON SEPTEMBER 15
Los Angeles - World Boxing Council (WBC) Featherweight Champion Jhonny Gonzalez (49-7, 43 KOs) of Mexico City, Mexico puts his title, and his pride on the line as he fights on his country’s Independence Day, Thursday, September 15 at the County Coliseum in El Paso, Texas as he takes on the Tanzanian slugger, Rogers Mtagwa (27-14-2, 19 KOs). The 12-round World Championship bout is presented by Goossen Tutor Promotions and Promociones Del Pueblo and will be broadcast live on ESPN Deportes and Televisa.
Also appearing on the event are the former 2008 U.S. Olympic teammates and promising prospects, Super Middleweight Shawn Estrada (12-0, 11 KOs) and Welterweight Javier Molina (8-0, 4 KOs), who are both of Mexican-American descent and living in East Los Angeles and Norwalk, respectively.
Estrada will be faced with a tough, 8-round fight against Zane “The Train” Marks (17-6, 10 KOs), who had once put together an impressive 14-fight winning streak before that run was stopped during an unsuccessful world title fight challenge. The Scottish-born Marks, who is currently residing in Louisiana, is excited to get back in the ring against the young Olympian.

Austin Trout -“No Doubt Trouts team wants a good fight in October, so I’m calling Pawel Wolak out.”

Interviewing Austin Trout is that unlike interviewing any other professional athlete. He is professional and straight forward and unafraid to be unapologetically himself. He is incredibly knowledgable about his craft, he has many insights about how to improve his game, the whole arena of boxing. Above all else he is honest, candid and humble. If other boxing greats were as real as Austin Trout they would also have a loyal following that would support them as Austin Trout’s fans support him. A local legend in the Southwest, and an underground superstar that is about to breakthrough into the mainstream. He was accompanied by his daughter Kaira to this interview who is charismatic as her father. The interview had a feeling of comfortability and was conducted quickly and professionally. Austin Trout has many stories and has had many obstacles but none have obscured his sight from the main goal of attaining each belt in his weight division. He has a drive that is unmatched and that shows in his speech, his demeanor and his faith. His faith in God, his love for his family and his respect for his fans rings true every time I have had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Trout. In his own words he explains where he is headed, how he will get there and what will happen when he meets opposition.
GB:First of all how do you feel coming off that win with David Lopez?
AT: It was a great fight, after I won that fight my rankings jumped like ten spots. From 17
to 7 on boxrec.com, top ten in light middleweight division for most rankings. I was very
happy with that. He was a tough cat (sic), I know I could do that again. He hadn’t lost his
last sixteen fights.
GB: What was the controversy over the drug test in Mexico?
AT: There are no drugs or alcohol in my body, I am always ready to fight. I just don’t do
it. When it came time for that drug test and I submitted my test, I was waiting to sign the
paper saying that this is my test, and then seal it and label it. They didn’t have me sign
anything and when I asked him if he was going to seal it, he basically told me that it was
ok, saying “Esta Bien, todo bueno.” I took the test but they didn’t have me sign anything,
so my manager told me that if something popped up that isn’t your test. They didn’t seal
it, sign it, and there was no chain of custody. So when I came home, I took a test and
submitted under the regulations. It came out negative.

‘Bazooka’ Joe Linenfelser sets sights on Henry Coyle
CHICAGO – Despite squeezing in a four-round bout before curfew, against an opponent strictly in survivor mode, “Bazooka” Joe Linenfelser (10-1-1, 6 KOs) notched his 10th career win on the non-televised portion of the August 20 ESPN Friday Night Fights card in Indiana,. Now, the talented 23-year-old welterweight prospect is looking forward to a Chicago-style showdown in the not too distant future against Henry “Western Warrior” Coyle.
Faced with not fighting at all due to a midnight curfew, or dropping down from six to four rounds, Team Linenfelser chose the latter and “Bazooka” Joe went on to easily win a four-round decision against veteran Ruben “Modern Day Warrior” Galvan (27-18-4, 10 KOs). The much more experienced Galvan has fought world champions such as Zab Judah, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and Paul Spadafora, as well as world title challenger Dmitriy Salita.
“I’m happy to get another win against a guy who has been in the ring with a lot of tough guys,” Linenfelser said. “At first, I was a little upset that it was only a four-rounder because you can hurt a guy but he can still survive four rounds. Galvan pressured me until I hit him with a few good rights, and then he just held on to survive. I wish he had boxed more, or moved around a little, and I would have knocked him out if we fought another round. He really stopped fighting after the second round. In the locker-room, he said he didn’t want a rematch because of my power punching.”

Unbeaten featherweight prospect Tyler Asselstine returns Sept. 9 in Montreal

Hot, unbeaten featherweight prospect Tyler Asselstine returns to the ring September 9 in a six-round bout against an opponent to be determined at The Chapiteau CCSE Maisonneuve in Montreal.
TORONTO – Hot, unbeaten featherweight prospect Tyler Asselstine returns to the ring September 9 in a six-round bout against an opponent to be determined at The Chapiteau CCSE Maisonneuve in Montreal.
After concluding a stellar amateur career (70-10), the 24-year-old Asselstine (6-0, 4 KOs) from Kingston, Ontario, turned pro only 10 months ago and he hasn’t slowed down. His rich amateur pedigree includes being a member of the 2009 Canadian National Team, representing his country in International matches, as well as capturing the 2010 Ringside World Championships.
“I started boxing at 18,” Tyler explained. “I was a kick-boxer before that. I started boxing because I wanted more competition and once I did I couldn’t stop.”
Hennessy Sports has kept Asselstine active, winning six fights in a relatively short period, and preparing for his fifth appearance in Montreal. In his last fight, Tyler won a unanimous six-round decision from Leonos Marie Francoise (8-4) this past June in Ontario.

ROBERT “THE GHOST” GUERRERO TO UNDERGO SURGERY ON INJURED SHOULDER NEXT WEEK
LOS ANGELES, CA - One week after a shoulder injury forced Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero’s to withdraw from his August 27 world title challenge against WBA Super Lightweight World Champion Marcos “El Chino” Maidana, it was recommended by Dr. Michael Dillingham that Guerrero have arthroscopic surgery to repair a tear in his left rotator cuff.
“After talking to Dr. Dillingham today, Robert will undergo an arthroscopic shoulder surgery procedure to take a closer look at the damage done to his rotator cuff,” said Guerrero’s manager Bob Santos. ”Right now the MRI shows a slight tear, but Dillingham advised us that it would be in our best interest to scope the shoulder to check for other damage that an MRI can’t reveal. No definitive answer can be made as to when Robert Guerrero will return to the ring until after his surgery is completed next Tuesday. We are hoping he’ll be back in six months, God willing his surgery goes smoothly.”
Robert Guerrero went on to say, “I’m really disappointed that I had to pull out of the fight, but thankful that the steps are in motion to get healthy. This was a lingering injury I suffered playing football as a teenager that never got addressed. I know surgery is a dangerous procedure, but Dr. Dillingham is one of the best doctors in the country that specializes with this type of surgery. The good thing is my shoulder is going to get fixed and I’ll live to fight another day. Times like this I must stay faithful to my lord and savior Jesus Christ who strengthens me through adversity.”
Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions commented, “We’re pleased that Robert’s injury isn’t career threatening, wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to his return to the ring.”
