April 20, 2010 – Former 3-time world champion in two weight divisions, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero, greeted media and fans today at his open workout which took place at the San Jose Boxing and Fitness gym.  Guerrero battles Roberto Arreita on the return of Telefutura’s “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” boxing series scheduled for Friday April 30 at the Tropicana in Las Vegas.

Here’s what he had to say.

About his return to the ring

“I’m excited to be fighting on Telefutura’s first show back.  The “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” boxing series has been great for boxing fans.  I can’t wait to let my hands go and show the fans that I’m back and ready to fight the best in my division.”

About training camp

“It’s been a good training camp.  My sparring partners gave me good work.  I’ve saw some tape on Arrieta and we have a solid game plan for this fight.  I know he’s going to be gunning for me, but that’s ok, because I’m ready to go.”

About his wife’s prognosis

“Casey is coming along great.  She’s still undergoing some procedures with her doctors, but she’s right where she’s supposed to be.  I’m grateful and thank God everyday for her well being.  Words can’t describe how I feel knowing that she’s doing better.”

About his quest to bring awareness to those battling leukemia

“I’m honored that “The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society” (LLS.org) nominated me as a candidate for their “Man of the Year” fundraising campaign.  Today I met an awesome kid named Aiden Bowen “2010 Boy of the Year” who is a cancer survivor.  He watched me workout and I showed him some boxing techniques.  Knowing what he’s gone through battling blood cancer, I’m very inspired by his story.  I encourage everyone to join me in my pursuit to help fund Leukemia research.
