One of the top featherweights in the world, Tijuana’s Juan Carlos Burgos (26-1, 19 KOs) is eager to get another shot at the 126-pound title after a hard-fought 12 round decision loss in Japan against Hozumi Hasegawa last November. Since then, the 23-year old phenom dropped Frankie Archuleta three times en route to a second round TKO win in February, and he’s determined to deliver the same dominant performance against Sanchez Leon to prove that he’s ready for another championship opportunity.

A 13 year veteran of the fight game, Mexicali’s Gilberto Sanchez Leon (29-10-2, 11 KOs) has faced some of the best in the sport and that pattern will remain intact when he battles Burgos on July 22nd. Winner of four of his last seven bouts, with two first round knockouts, the 30-year old will bring his best as he faces his countryman in All-Mexico turf war.

2008 Colombian Olympian Darley Perez (21-0, 16 KOs) wasted no time tearing through his opposition after the Beijing Games, compiling 21 fights in just two years as a pro. After a 12-0 start in 2009, he added six more wins last year, and in 2011, he has stepped up his game considerably with two of his three victories coming against 23-9 Jose Reyes and 26-13-3 Wilson Alcorro. On July 22nd, he will step up to the plate against a veteran foe once again when he battles Huatabampo, Mexico’s Sergio “Pollero” Rivera (25-7-2, 16 KOs) in an eight round lightweight bout that promises to be a memorable showdown.

La Puente featherweight Abraham “Chamaco” Lopez (14-0, 10 KOs) has always been a popular fighter in the Southern California area, but it was his April 29th win over fellow prospect Aaron Garcia that let people know that he was ready for bigger things in his promising career. Next up for the 23-year old Lopez in an eight round matchup will be hard-hitting Laredo, Texas product Olvin Mejia (4-3-3, 4 KOs).

Also featured on July 22nd will be Londonberry, New Hampshire’s Jhon Ortega (5-0-1, 5 KOs) who has become quite accustomed to performing on the west coast since his debut in 2010. He will meet McAllen, Texas’ John David Charles (7-2, 1 KO) in a six round junior welterweight contest.

In a six round super bantamweight bout, Ontario’s own Jonathan “Lil’ Thund’r” Arellano (8-0-1, 1 KOs) squares off against Brownsville, Texas’ Felipe Cordova (10-2, 4 KOs). And in two bouts pitting fighters from Los Angeles against boxers from Indio, LA’s Danny Roman (2-0-1, 1 KO) takes on Indio’s Diego Madrigal (1-0-1) in a four round bantamweight match, and debuting welterweights Javier Albonica of LA meets Joshua Robertson of Indio in a four rounder.

Bouts subject to change. Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the first bell rings at 7:30 pm.  The Doubletree Hotel is located at 222 North Vineyard Avenue in Ontario. The hotel phone number is 909-937-0900.
