Ramos Jr. Earns 67% of Votes from “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” Viewers
New York – Luis Ramos Jr. scored an exciting 5th round knockout victory over David Rodela, maintaining his undefeated professional record during the main event of the September 30 “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” broadcast. His performance also impressed the fans at home, who gave him 67% of their text and online votes and, as a result, the title of the boxer with the most carácter of the week, putting Ramos Jr. in the running to receive the next “Cinturón Tecate” (Tecate Belt).
“Cinturón Tecate” is an award created to celebrate the boxers who display the most carácter in the ring during the “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” broadcast each Friday night on TeleFutura. Tecate recognizes that viewers at home are the best judges and allows them to vote for their favorite fighter of the night by sending a text message or visiting www.Univision.com. To thank participating fans, each text submitted gives them the opportunity to win boxing memorabilia, such as T-shirts, autographed pictures and even tickets to future “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” fights.
The next opportunity to vote will be during the October 14 broadcast of “Sólo Boxeo Tecate” which will feature Michael Perez taking on an opponent to be announced from the Coliseo Rafael G. Amalbert in Juncos, Puerto Rico.
During the same broadcast, the boxer who earned the highest percentage of fan votes between July and September will be announced & presented with the third “Cinturón Tecate” of 2011. The winner will also appear in an upcoming episode of Univision’s premier sports show “República Deportiva.”
