Hall of Fame Boxing Broadcaster Al Bernstein will continue his tradition of doing live music entertainment shows to kick off big fight weekends in Las Vegas when he performs on Thursday, September 11 at the Tuscany Suites and Casino. His show kicks off the festivities for boxing fans who come to Las Vegas for the September 13 battle between Canelo Alvarez and Terrence Crawford.
Al will do shows at 8:00 pm and 9:30 pm featuring music of the Great American Songbook, Blues and Country. The shows will also feature an audience participation segment featuring boxing trivia which allows audience members to win prizes. Boxing fans will have a chance before and after the show to interact and take photos with Al and other boxing personalities who will be in attendance.
Al began the custom of doing shows to kick off big fight weekends in Las Vegas in 1987 when he performed at Caesar’s Palace before the Marvin Hagler-Sugar Ray Leonard match. Over the years he has done them at The Riviera, Las Vegas Hilton, and Mandalay Bay. In recent years Al has made the Tuscany Suites and Casino his performing home. In addition to performing on other dates during the year Al has done shows there on many big fight weekends including bouts like Manny Pacquiao-Adrien Broner, Gervonta Davis-Ryan Garcia, Errol Spence-Terrance Crawford and Canelo Alvarez-Jermell Charlo.
Al said: “These shows are designed to give boxing fans a gathering place leading up to these big boxing events for a fun night of music, boxing trivia and the chance to rub elbows with boxing personalities and well known boxers who come out to the show. I love getting a chance to interact with the boxing fans on hand and perform music from a number of different genres, backed by some of the best musicians in Las Vegas. The Piazza Lounge at the Tuscany is a great venue—not a bad seat in the house.”
The musical director for the show is Kenny Davidsen and Al’s featured guest is talented Las Vegas singer Joe Dinunzio. There is no cover charge.
